On a recent visit to Chikballapur I found very ancient buildings converted to auto garages and stores. I also found that in some places the roads have risen to the height of half the buildings. (Some Pictures below. The others will be put up in http://satyaphoto.wordpress.com)
One of the statements people keep making about Indian history… is “No archaeological Evidence”. Many scholars (including myself) have previously said that in India the most ancient of bricks and structures have been reused and ancient cities have been built upon, over and over again for thousands of centuries. Also with our habits like cremation of the dead and distribution of the ashes in the rivers (from Sri Rama’s time), you only get skeletons etc that have been buried by volcanic eruptions – as in the case of the “Narmada Skull”.

The walls of this old construction are being used to advertise ACC cement. I saw a little girl playing inside the gate.

Ancient Ruins make good auto garages
- This is the entrance to a large historical building that houses an auto garage inside and shops within it’s walls
- Ancient Building wall Houses Shops
- This little room on the top is a converted structure from what was typically a corner tower of that historical building
- This gives you an idea of the height of the road above this old structure, that continues to relatively ‘ sink lower and lower’.
- The road is this higher than the building
- Ancient Ruins make good auto garages
- Part of the garage wall
- The walls of this old construction are being used to advertise ACC cement. I saw a little girl playing inside the gate.
