Sanskrit Classes – Online

One of my fans of Thatha and the Magic Grain came up with the idea of Sanskrit online classes via skype or g voice chat. There are many wonderful resources on the net but she wants a “real” as in human teacher. We are trying it out soon. May be starting this Saturday Evening, because she is in U.S. since it is the first time, I think it will be a bit experimental.

The approach I am planning is to do some basic nouns (raAmah and sItA) and some basic verbs (aagacchati, vande) and then get cracking with passages from the Bhagavad Gita or Valmiki Ramayana…, may be even some Vedic Mantras and Upanishadic shlokas. So grammar + application, back to grammar.

The system of Gurudakshina : For eg, while Uddanka brought the ear-rings of Aditi for his teacher, Arjuna captured Drupada for Drona and Sri Krishna brought back Sandipani’s son from the nether world. Most other normal students brought grain or cows or gold. It depended on the capacity of the student and his family. And I think poor students just did some respectful service.

Leave me a comment if you are interested. I expect all students to do their homework and pay attention. :)

I can take a batch of upto 9 students using skype voice conference.
