Gopikas complain to Yasoda : Vinnava Yasodamma? : Mayabazaar

In this video from the classic movie Mayabazaar, you see Sri Krishna, Rukmini, Balarama, Revati and Balarama’s daughter Sasirekha being treated  to a performance about Sri Krishna’s childhood pranks, the loving complaints of the Gopikas and the divine activities of Krishna.

Gopikas: Have you heard O Mother Yasoda?

The naughty little pranks of your little Krishna?

Yasoda: My little innocent son, who knows neither right nor wrong, who eats mud (unknowingly),

What did he do? Why are you creating a racket?

Gopikas: Is he one who eats mud, or one who eats butter?

He crawled in like a little cat without making any sound with his anklets,

He took down the pots hanging down from the roof

He ate up all the butter and drank all the milk and slurped up all the curds.

Sri Krishna: How could I do this all alone? O mother! Does such a thing exist anywhere?

O mother yasoda, listen to the tales of these girls!

Gopikas : See how he speaks! But could he be caught when we tried?

When all the girls made a plan and gaurded each doorstep,

We heard the sound of anklets in one house and the sounds of the flute in another.

When we felt that we had caught the thief and went to take  a look,

He suddenly ran away somewhere..

How did he come, and how did he go, ask your own mischievous son!

Sri Krishna: How do I know? I wasn’t even there!

Yasoda: Then where were you?

Sri Krishna : I was dancing on the head of the Kaliya Snake which was poisoning the waters of the Kalindi Lake

I ended (the reign of) that posionous snake and protected all the cows.

Towards the end of the performance, Sri Krishna hears the remote pleas of Draupadi

(In the background) Draupadi : He Krishna! Mukunda! Please listen to my pleas! Who is there for me except You, I am weak, please look at my weak situation!

…and yogically supplies her with an endless supply of sarees. Then he updates Balarama about the injustice being done to the Pandavas in the court of Hastinapura. Balarama sets off to put things right. Sasirekha who is in love with Abhimanyu is very worried and Sri Krishna reassures her that he will take care of everything.
