Answering Unfair Comments : Generations between Rama and Krishna.

leave a comment »

One of the very difficult things about maintaining this site is the number of hasty and unfair comments that people leave on it.

Today, I have this unfair comment from : Abhishek Ghosh. on Generations between Rama and Krishna.

Comment : The critical link which has shortened the gap between Shri Rama and Shri Krishna is Vyasa.

  • Answer : Vyasa is one of the many rishis and warriors who are common to the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. In the article which Abhishek has not read carefully, I have listed Veda Vyasa, Garga , Parasurama, Hanuman, Shandilya, Dhaumya, Vibhishana, Markandeya, and so many more. Not all of these were claimed to be chiranjeevas.

Comment : It is assumed that this Vyasa is a single person. However, Vyasa was a honorific in ancient India like the Dr. and PhD of today. The term Vyasa was conferred on one who achieved prowess in the scriptures, logic etc.

Comment : I believe it is therefore erroneous to work out chronologies based on one or two persons.

  • Answer : Again he has not read the article and thus assumes that it is based on a few people.

Comment : If Shri Rama and Shri Krishna were so close, why is there hardly any mention of Ayodhya as a great power in the Mahabharata ? Surely the descendants of Sri Rama would not have squandered away their standing so quickly.

Comment : The vanaras also would have been around. Why did they not feature in the Mahabharata except for Hanuman ?

  • Answer : Again Abhishek is speculating that the vanaras were not around in Sri Krishna’s time. Mainda and Dwivida were Vanaras who fought on Sri Rama’s Side during the Ramayana War. ” Mainda and Dwivida, Vanara heroes were killed by Balarama when they attacked Dwaraka.”

Conclusion :

All these points and many more were mentioned in the original article, the commenter Abhsihek did not even read or think about those points.

I have been working for many years to collect this data. I frequently get such unfair comments, which people make without reading the article, or without reading the original texts.

I am asked to take their speculations and conclusions and hearsay for fact. If they give a reference it is only to some second hand opinion and never to an original text.

They never click on the links and verify the references provided.

I am advised by the followers of this blog to ignore such comments, because every time, it hurts my sensibilities and I lose time that could be used to cover fresh ground.

I am assured that there are people who like my work but those are too busy to leave an enocuraging comment.

I get too many unfair comments such as the one above.. and this was the most polite and dignified comment of the lot.

For sometime, I have been considering whether I should make all my research private., do I need this aggravation?

… but then this will be a victory for those who have opinions without reading originals and deprive the thinking public of researched data and the opportunity of making up their own minds.

Jai Sri Veera Anjaneya!
