Source : The 6 duties of a brahmin are :
“Adhyaapanam Adhyayanam
Yajanam Yaajanam Tathaa
Daanam Pratigraham Chaiva
Brahmanaanaamakalpayaat”
Teaching, learning, performing Yaaga, make performing Yaga, accept Daana, and give Daana are the six duties of a Brahmin.
Personal Note :
I guess I have done 4 upto now.
- Adhyaapanam (Vedic Teaching)
- Adhyayanam (Vedic Learning)
- Yajanam (performing yajgnyas eg Wedding)
- Daanam (Donations)
- Pratigraham just starting (Accepting)
Yaajanam is pending. For that, one has to learn how to perform yagnyas and guide others… I believe Arya Samaj teaches this….
