Ganesha Puja : Quoting the Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu Sahasranamam and Rama Raksha Stotram

The compiler of the puja paddhati for gaNEs’a pUja, the generally selects a few s’lOkAs from the Bhagavad Gita, Vishnusahasranama and Rama raksha stotram. The actual s’lokas selected may vary from compiler to compiler. In my book, this is what I have.

Wherever there is yogIs’wara kRSNa, and the master archer Arjuna, there is s’RI, and victory. (Sanjaya, the charioteer of Dhritarashtra says that in the Mahabharatam.)

“I take care of the welfare of those who serve me always, without thinking of anyone else”. Sri Krishna says this in the Bhakti Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita.

I take refuge in Hari the eternal puruSa, who has no birth, thinking of whom always leads to welfare. Those people who always have Hari in their hearts, never have any misfortune. They are victorious and gain profits and never suffer insults.

“I bow to Sri Rama who protects us from trouble, gives us all wealth and good fortune and who is the delight of the world.” from the Sri Rama Raksha Stotram.

After this the Shodasha Ganapati Stotra is chanted for the removal of all obstacles. Then we bow to Ganesha, to whom even the surAs (dEvAs) bow in order to get what they desire.
