As we all know there are many different schools of thought in Hinduism, and different Gurus adopt and teach different schools. Even in a given school there are again many fine variations
According to one view of the Tantra Kundalini Yoga, the various deities dwell in you at the various points. Radhika found this idea very thrilling, so I thought I’d just list out the locations of the different deities.
Ganesha dwells at the Muladhara Chakra or the base of your spine.
Vishnu and his Sakti dwell at the Svadishthana Chakra, which is along your spine and above the level of your reproductive organs, I think at the level of your navel.
Further up along your spine at the level of your solar plexus, dwell Vrddha S’iva and his Sakthi at the Manipura Chakra.
Isana Rudra Siva and his Sakthi dwell in your anahata chakra, along your spine at the level of your heart.
Pancha vakthra Siva and his Sakthi dwell at the level of your throat, along your spine at the Vishuddha Chakra.
Ardhanarisvara Siva and Sakthi dwell at the point between your brows, at the ajna (agnya) chakra.
And finally at the top of your cranium, at the Sahasrara Chakra is Brahma(n) to be found.
It is highly possible that you have already heard another variant and if you believe that then you are welcome to forget this. What interests me is that Divinity in its various forms exists in you and along your spine, according to this school of thought. Of course I will only make up my mind after i refer to the original sanskrit texts on this subject and I have not yet done this.
Bhagavad Gita 5:27 refers to the use of the Ajna chakra in dhyana or meditation.
