Govinda Govinda! (Ram Gopal Varma) : God amidst us!
*
This is an awesome movie by Ram Gopal Varma, full of adventure, romance and finally magic and philosophy. In the clip enclosed (no dialogues), in the first two min, you will find the evil villain of dark powers, who wants to steal Venkateswaraswamy’s crown, beating up the hero and having killed the heroine.
Then a little brahmin boy who who never speaks and whom the taxi driver hero has been caring for suddenly shows a siddhi and gives him Vishnu‘s Sudarshana Chakra.
The hero uses this to behead the villain after which his wounds are healed and his girl comes to life! yay!
Then Venkatesa gives his pratyaksha darsanam (a sight of his divine form) to the couple and they get married and live happily ever after.
Two minor villains who repent and reform get a second chance at living decently.

There is a Gita s’loka in the background – “yada yada hi dharmasya” – a promise from God that he will protect the good and destroy the wicked – sung by Ghantasala.

I love movies in which we see the Devas moving amongst us, loving us us, helping us and being there for us. Especially like in this movie where a divya darsanam is made available to semi-ordinary people like us. I mean this couple are not saints, they live and are in love, but of course they are ready to fight and die for God, and/or the right thing, their faith is so pure and simple, in that they are better than us.
And with all the merits of Advaita .. it does look like Dvaita is more fun… I hope I get to see Vishnu like that … sigh!
