This lovely song is inspired by our Puranas and Itihasas. It is not exactly the Manasa Sarovar, or even supposed to be it, though it is a beautiful place in the Himalayas where Devas go to bathe and frolic at dawn! (As they are believed to do at Manasa Sarovar.)
The human hero goes there in search of a rare herb and Indra‘s daughter suitably named Indraja, goes there to see the prakruti soundaryam (beauty of nature) of the universally famous bhulokam (world of earth). The divine beauty Indraja was played by Sridevi, the only one who could have played that role at that time and the hero by Chiranjeevi, the only one who could match her in dance and glamour at that time in telugu cinema!
Both of them delight in the beauty of the place, at the same time.. and in one shot (not in this video) they occupy the same exact place at the same instant. The human can’t see the Deva and the Devakanya is not interested in the manava and does not notice him at all. How the ordinary chap marries the ultimate in beautiful princesses, the daughter of the king of the Devas forms this superlative magical tale, with fantastic songs, humour, fights and victory of good over bad!
I love stories in which the divine and human are mixed up and there is magic in mundane situations. You can see the Devakanyas arriving on this planet from elsewhere and golden shiny peaks that look a bit like Mt. Kailas in the early morning sun. See the whole movie if you can. It’s a super favorite of mine!
