There is a new Mahabharata going on at Hastinapur (Delhi) today.

There is a 74 year old man, a former army officer, who is working with team of people of high integrity to empower the people by fighting corruption.

He has not the power of money or muscle, but the power, the s’akti of nihswArtha – unselfishness. The power of a good reputation. The power of integrity.

An Asoka Chakra, not a Sudarshana chakra, but a Dharma Yuddha nevertheless!

With this divya-astra he has commanded the willing loyalty and obedience of thousands of Indians. He has fired the imagination of a jaded and disenchanted generation.

He has been able to galvanise a middle class that has been traditionally labelled as apathetic. They don’t sell their votes like the uneducated classes have been unfortunately persuaded to do in the past. They don’t vote in “banks”. They pay taxes and follow rules and try to get by. They do not have political lobbies. India’s politicians have no interest in this middle class. They cannot be brought in lorries to political rallies.

..

Krishna promised Bharata (Arjuna, India), that whenever there was a dharma glAni – fall of dharma and a rise of adharma, he would create Himself again and again, to save the good and destroy the wrong doers.

It has been dancing in my head, that this is exactly what Anna, Arvind, Kiran, Santosh, Shanthi, Prashanth and all the others are doing. There has been a fall in dharma and rise in adharma as evidenced by all the scandals and scams. And here suddenly out of a remote village is an old man, who is fighting adharma with his nihswArtha.

Is this how Krishna looks like in our yuga? Is this the face I have been waiting my whole life to see? It is a very overwhelming idea and something that merits a lot a lot of thought. I was led to believe that he would be blue, ride a horse and carry a sword ( and in general be young and handsome. :) )

I include Anna and his (our) cause in my prayers daily and hope that you do too.

Jai Anna Hazaare! My salutations and respects to you. I must have a dars’an.

Jai Bharata Bhumi! Jai India!
