Indradyumna asked, ” Who are those men who practice the Varnasrama, by whom the ultimate (parah – the one beyond), is worshipped? And what is that divine knowledge that is established in the three bhavanas?

How was this created before? And how is it again destroyed? What are the dynasties and manvantaras (intervals of manu) in these created worlds? Of these what are pramANAs (important – that can be taken as a basis), pure vratAs (austere pujas with documented procedures).

*It is important that the world which we translate as created is really –  sRSTi – “That which has flowed”. Another word sarga also translated into english as creation has to do with streaming or letting loose. I think create is not the best word to be used.

I want to understand this in the context of the expanding universe – vis’vam. Today we know experimentally that the universe is expanding. (See Also : http://www.schoolsobservatory.org.uk/astro/cosmos/uniball for an illustrative example).

What are the teerthAs (places of holy waters)? What about the places and movements of the sun and the stars? What about the dimensions of the earth? What are the islands, seas, mountains, rivers (both nadIs and nadAs).

Oh lotus – eyed one, please tell me now, everything, as it is!”
