We are shortly going to conclude the first adhyAya of the brAhmI samhita of the Kurma Puranam on this blog-site.

Then it will be time to do a good deed (little or big).

Sri Kurma is the avataar of Vishnu, which bore the Mandara Mountain on Its back, when the Luminaries and the Mighty churned the Ocean for amRtam. Many wonderful things emerged from that churning, including the nectar of immortality.

This is an ancient shrine, which I believe was the final resting place of the kUrma avatAram , after the Ksheera Sagara Mathanam (Location) at Antarvedi.

I have been there many years ago and the peace (s’ama) there was awesome.

I have heard from the temple authorities as well as an individual devotee that the temple is very much in need of our support. So helping that temple is surely a punya kAryam. In other words it is karma (doing good prescribed things). (Not akarma (doing nothing) or vikarma (doing bad things)).

Also the auspicious navarAtrIs are starting, so it is also a good time to do good things, because the effect is magnified.

First decide what you can afford, comfortably and from your  heart. Then choose an auspicious day, such as your birthday/wedding day etc, or a day like navarAtri or Sri Rama Navami or whatever you like best.
