Current Affairs : people vote for development and sops – bellary’s message to annaji.
Indians are not anti-corruption as one voice.
As a nation we empower those who gives us roads and jobs and free electricity.
This morning as Annaji sits on his fast I met a stranger who said he paid rs 3.5 lakhs for a govt. job and he will easily recover this through bribes etc in a couple of years. He is not highly educated, he belongs to a farming community. He is definitely part of a vote bank. He said Annaji is fasting for his health, and he cannot afford to follow Annaji.
In spite of all the work done by Lokayukta Sri Santosh Hegde, it was Sriramulu backed by Reddy brothers who won the bellary by election.
So who is anti-corruption? Only those who see the big picture. Those who can see it as a disease weakening the country. Of these people not all are with Annaji. They want different methods and different results.
Annaji denies that he has sought the support of politicos, industrialists, USA and RSS. Yet, they were on his side in his last struggle.
Annaji has given a form and voice to those who are against corruption whoever they be. This is good.
He has not taught ordinary people why corruption will destroy their lives. He has not taught the people of bellary why illegal mining and exports which look convenient today will impoverish them in the long run.
He has not taught that farmer why bribing to get that govt. job will only hurt him and not benefit him.
That is the achilles heel of this movement.
