Shobhan Babu makes a wonderful Krishna in this clip which earned for him the role of Rama in Sampoorna Ramayanam, also by Bapu and Mullapudi.
The movie is buddhimanthudu. The devout older brother seen in this clip and his undevout but idealistic younger brother are both played by Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
The story is one of service to a Krishna, that only the older brother, the devout priest, can see or of service to the village which the younger brother is engrossed in.
Which is the higher dharma?
In this clip you can see Krishna who looks so real to the devotee is quite invisible to his mother and causes her a lot of anxiety.
The movie does not answer the question of God’s existence directly but suggests that it is we who must do God’s work or that God works through people.
Both brothers are respected in the village for their service to humanity and service to God. Both brothers are good men. One relies on his effort and one on God Krishna. They don’t share the same reality.
In this beautiful video the bhakta asks Krishna, ,.”When all your beautiful ladies are searching for you , have you come to take care of me. Born in a jail, jailed by the arms of beautiful women, jailed in temples of harsh stone, have you come to be jailed in my heart and take care if me, oh gopala?”
