Satya Sutra : Do your average, not your best!
When I was a little girl, my father told me the difference between a sprint and a marathon.
Only someone who is planning to go a very short distance would be willing to burn up all their energies in a short distance.
If you are planning to go great distances, don’t burn out in primary school!
When I was an engineering student, he told me – Design for optimum performance not for maximum speed or load.
In my master’s degree, I was taught how to design with tolerances. Your costs will go down and your system will be more reliable.
When I was a manager, the CEO told me – don’t let best become the enemy of better.
I am now firmly anti-burnout. Do a reasonable job, in a reasonable time period to a decent quality. Don’t overdo it.
Give yourself time, space, allowance, tolerance. Be comfortable.
My classmate, was not at the top of the class, but he has had an excellent career and heads his own big company now. He said, let your son choose a career that he can do easily. Then he can do it for a long time. Don’t choose a career for him in which he will burnout quickly.
Doing your best, trying your hardest, I think is maximisation. Doing your average is optimisation.
You can do it without tension and strain. You won’t burn out. You can do it for a long time! You will succeed in time and that success will last for a long time.
Another advantage of doing your average materially is that it frees up your consciousness to focus on yourself, your family, society, and The Self of All.
People who want us to join the rat race, want us to be rats! People who let us be ourselves are giving us a chance to be Divine!
