Observation : Survival of the Weakest
There were four puppies. 2 brown, 2 black.
One black friendly one that was led away by a construction worker’s son.
One brown one that caught and ate a rat without sharing, and it was never allowed to share their food again. It died of starvation, and its siblings gave a darn.
One aggressive black one that suddenly disappeared and never came back.
One weak scared brown one, that had to be force fed. That got a share of food, only after its siblings had eaten and if humans protected its share of food. That ran and hid from other dogs and hardly barked. That whined sometimes trying to communicate its sorrow to humans who could never understand.
Who was suddenly the interest of a lot of dogs that it tried to hide from.
Who became the mom of two black and two brown puppies, and was the only one that got to pass on its genes to the next generation.
The weakest, most passive, least competent puppy survived into the next generation.
This is often true among humans too at least in workplaces and war. The best are exploited and sacrificed. The weakest are sheltered and specially cared for.
Those who are fit for survival into the next generation are the weakest and fearful, not the strong, competent and brave.
That could be why people try to pretend to be less intelligent, less talented and less lucky, at least in ancient and evolved cultures.
