Lineages and Contemporaries : Uddalaka (Aruni), Dhaumya, Svetaketu, Ashtavakra, Vandin, Varuna, Pandavas, Draupadi, Jayadratha, Janaka
Dhaumya’s student was Aruni, the one who blocked the breach in the bund with his body. That’s when he earned the name Uddalaka.
His son was Svetaketu. At least 2 or 3 upanishads have conversations between Uddalaka and Svetaketu regarding the nature of the Self etc.
Svetaketu was of the same age as Uddalaka’s grandson Ashtavakra.
Ashtaavakra defeated Vandin. the son of Varuna Deva at the court of Janaka, the son of Indradyumna, in a cryptic philosophical debate.
Dhaumya was the priest of the Pandavas and tried to dissuade Jayadratha from kidnapping Draupadi.
