sanskrit : candra
telugu : c’andamaama, candruDu
kannada : candira
hindi : caand
beauty
telugu : anda, c’anda, anda – c’anda (telugu style repetitive pairing)
kannada : canda, canna
telugu has three sounds ca cha and c’a in that category, though media has been ignoring c’a for a while now. It sounds a bit like tsa in tsar but not exactly.
It is interesting that the words for beauty are similar sounding to the word for moon in sanskrit.
Also it is legal to use sanskrit words as they are in telugu and I guess in kannada also as long as they take the proper suffixes.
eg rAmah becomes rAmuDu and candrah becomes candruDu in telugu, prathamA vibhakti, ekavacana
