abhyAsa : A morning walk

For years, I have wanted to go on a long morning walk. Today I gave up the attachments that I have to be the one who cooks breakfast for my son and that all housework must be completed before I leave the house. Voila! We were out of the house by 7 am right after coffee and walked for two hours and breakfasted outside.

I feel happy that I got to do what I wanted to do, at a time I wanted to do it.

I was raised to believe ‘duty first and foremost’ and this kills all the joy in life and makes you look forward to death as a joyful rest from endless duties. It also makes you feel guilty when ‘you are not doing something purposeful – whether you succeed or fail’.

It is nice to go for a morning walk!
