My friend Vijaya and her husband Amar, made a lifelong wish of mine come true, by taking me to see nanjunDEs’wara of nanjangUd.
To the people of Mysuru and surrounding areas, this is s’iva.
The lovely intricate sculptures on the prAkArAs and gOpuram are painted in the colour of divine sandalwood. It is a treat for the eyes.
There was an elephant outside, blessing devotees with its trunk.
Even stepping inside this ancient temple, gives a wonderful thrilling feeling, s’iva always has that effect on me., we go back a long eternal way after all!!
The sculptures with their purANic, yOgic, tAntrik, astronomical, historical significance and divine beauty, held my eyes and mind and helped my manas engage with my cit.!
I smiled happily at every gaNES’a I saw, he is my friend after all!!
I know I must go back one fine day and sit there to meditate, catch it on a non-busy day!
We saw a saffron robed yOgI from far away, sitting in such a yOgic posture.
All in all, this centre can take one to the agnya cakra (ajna chakra). The point from which there is no return!!
I think there are direct trains and buses from Bangalore, but my friendstold me that the queues can be very long!!
Love,
