Prof. R.L. Kashyap:
- He is a professor emeritus of computers at Purdue University. He has translated and explained the Rg Veda Samhita in the Aurobindo tradition. (Yaska, Saunaka, Katyayana, Durgacharya, Anandatirtha, Bhaskara and Raghavendra Tirtha, Aurobindo, Kapali Sastry). This gives a spiritual-psychological explanation of the Veda Mantras as opposed to the naturalistic interpretation of Sayana popularised by Max Mueller.

- The Vedas have at the least 3 layers of meaning. : Bhautik/Yajnik, Daivik, Adhyatmic. (For yet another layer you can see http://satyaveda.wordpress.com)
- A mantra is a phonetic expression of a divine insight. To understand this think of how languages first evolved. Sounds can Cause as well as Reflect Reality.
- A rshi is a person to whom a mantra is internally revealed.
- A Vedic Deva is a luminary and is different from a Puranic Deva.
- A Vedic Deva is an incarnation or emanation of a cosmic force who is endowed with a high level of consciousness.
- Mantras and meditation connect us with the Devas.
- When A Deva manifests and grows in a person, he develops the powers associated with that Deva.
- Agni is the Divya Sankalpa (Will). Indra is Divya Manas (Mind).
- Agni and Indra help raise us to the level of Vishnu and Rudra.
